Lloyd Earns 3rd Place Finish; All-American Selection

MILLEDGEVILLE, G.A. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Cross Country team travelled to Milledgeville, Georgia Saturday, November, 13th to participate in the National Junior College Athletic Association, Division III, National Championship at Georgia Millitary College.

Freshman Leah Lloyd (Macedon, N.Y./ Palmyra-Macedon) came into the 5k championship as one of best runners in the nation. Leah Lloyd proved herself as just that, coming up big on the National stage, taking a 3rd place finish with a time of 20 minutes and 14.46 seconds. Lloyd's top-3 finish caps off a historic season which will go down as one of, if not the best, individual performances in a season in Finger Lakes Community College Women's Cross Country history.

Lloyd earns the honor of being on the best runners in the nation, let alone, as a Freshman. Head Coach Jayden Donahue attributed Leah's accolades to her work ethic, "I can't say how proud I am of Leah (Lloyd) and her 3rd place finish. She worked really hard this season and absolutely deserves that honor. I am looking forward to seeing what she can do nationally in the 2022 season".

With the win, Lloyd completes the fastest 5k time in Finger lakes Community College history, finishing the course in 20 minutes and 14.46 seconds. Lloyd also earns the highest individual finish in the NJCAA National Tournament in FLCC history. Both the previous records were held by FLCC Women's X/C student-athlete, Jamie Coleman, who competed for the Lakers in 1996 through 1997. Thanks to her stellar play, Lloyd was also named a National Junior College Athletic Association, Division III, All-American.

Lloyd and the rest of the Women's Cross Country team looks to make a run in the 2022 season and build off from a very successful 2021 season.
