Lakers Cross Country Competes at SUNY Brockport for Season Opener

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Brockport State for the Tom Balon Alumni Classic 5K Saturday morning.  

The men's race remained competitive with the first four finishers separated by a mere 3 seconds. For the Lakers freshman Zachary Lester (Marcellus, N.Y./ Marcellus) led the team, finishing with a time of 19:16.1. Following closely behind Lester was MacNeil Ruston (Darien Center, N.Y./ Alexander) who earned a commendable time of 21:46.9. Sophomore Noah Mattison (Marion, N.Y./ Marion) gave a spirited effort as the Lakers' final finisher, coming in with a time of 34:29.9. 

On the women's side, freshman Megan Calder (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) stood out, finishing with a strong time of 23:10.9, following Calder was fellow classmate Annaliece Kreuzer (Sodus, N.Y./ Sodus) who secured a time of 38:13.8. 

The teams will return to the course this coming Saturday, September 16th for the annual Bruce Bridgeman Invitational hosted by Finger Lakes Community College. The women's race will kick off the event at 10 AM, followed by a 10:45 AM start for the men.
