Lakers Sweep Red Barons in Four Game Series Over Weekend

The FLCC baseball team swept the Red Barons from Corning Community College in a four games series over the weekend.  After defeating the Red Barons in a double header on Saturday, The Lakers took games three and four by scores of 4-3 and 12-4.  

In game one of Sunday's double header, the Lakers fell behind early after the Red Barons scored a run in the bottom of the second inning.  Finger Lakes rallied back in the top of the fourth inning, scoring four runs.  The Red Barons would score two runs in the final inning, but the Lakers would hold out for a 4-3 victory.  

Trevor Bradshaw and Brett Otto would lead the Lakers with two hits apiece.  Otto hit two doubles, batting in one runer. Nick Slobodiak finished 1-for-4, with a double and two RBI's. Mike Magnanti, Cody Cooper, Nick Ferrino, and Austin Teets each had one hit apiece.  Michael Donofrio pitched six innings for the Lakers, striking out eight batters and allowing no earned runs.  

The Lakers went on a 10-0 run in the first four innings of game two.  The Red Barons would rally in the bottom of the fifth inning to score four runs.  The Lakers would score two additional runs in the six inning to give them a 12-4 victory and a sweep over Corning Community College.  

The Lakers tallied 10 total hits in game two.  Mike Magnanti and Cory Valentine led the Lakers with two hits apiece.  Valentine batted in two runs while Magnanti batted in one.  Austin Teets finished 1-for-2 with three RBI's. Andrew Jacobs, Nick Ferrino, and Cody Cooper had one hit and one RBI apiece.  Cooper also had three stolen bases for the Lakers.  Evan Pappalardo pitched five innings for the Lakers.  He struck out eight batters and allowed four earned runs.  

The Lakers will host the Panthers from Tompkins Cortland Community College in a double header on Tuesday, April 4.  Game one is scheduled for 2pm.
