CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College baseball team cruised past TC3 in both games of a twin bill on Monday after earning a crucial sweep over Genesee Sunday afternoon in 5-0 and 9-1 finishes.
In game one against TC3, the Lakers fired on all cylinders to put up a shutout victory over the Panthers. Markus Brehm (Wayland, N.Y./Wayland-Cohocton), Joey Sanna (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) and Brody Froman (Irondequoit, N.Y./West Irondequoit) fired up the offensive engine with two RBIs apiece, while Trey Buchholz (Shinglehouse, P.A./Bolivar Richburg), Justin Angora (Henrietta, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta), Ethan Kuzma (Middleport, N.Y./Royalton-Hartland) and Christian Morrison (Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) contributed to the onslaught with one apiece. The Laker defense stood tall throughout all points of the contest as they finished with zero errors while also holding the Panthers scoreless. Sanna and Morrison made a double-play, while pitcher Nathan Power (Victor, N.Y./Victor) put up a dominant performance in the win with four strikeouts, zero runs, and just five hits allowed over six innings of play.
The Lakers kept their foot on the gas in game two with a 9-3 victory. Brennen Russo (East Irondequoit, N.Y./Eastridge) and Jack Carozzoni (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira) showed up big with two RBIs each, while Nate Hill (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) scored three times to give the offense a boost. The Lakers put up a strong defensive showing, too, headlined by Christian Morrison, Shaun Cannon, and Justin Angora. The Lakers cycled between three pitchers – Aiden Reed (Shortsville, N.Y./Red Jacket), Dom Morsch (Churchville, N.Y./Churchville-Chili), and Ethan Kuzma – who all dealt one strikeout apiece while combining for 52 strikes.
The Lakers currently sit at 20-10, 6-4 conference, and look to build on their momentum as they head into their next outing versus Genesee Community College, a doubleheader set for Thursday, April 17th at 2 & 4:30 PM.
