Lakers Host Regional Matchup with Saints
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Lakers played host to the North Country Community College Saint on Saturday, February 4th in a Regional contest on the Putt Moore Court.
Lakers sophomore Danny Amador (Naples, F.L./ Palmetto Ridge) continued his hot streak, scoring 20 or more points in five-straight games with 23 against the Saints. Amador would do his part setting up his teammates with 5 assists on the afternoon. The sophomore guard's pesty defense resulted in 4 steals, a game-high mark to wrap up his afternoon.
Freshman Frankie Oropeza (Rochester, N.Y./ Greece Athena) followed up in the scoring column with 17 points, including four made 3-pointers. Sophomore teammate Paxton Creek (Kalgoorie, Australia/ Eastern Goldfields) would convert three of his four made shots from beyond the arc, dropping in 11 points on the afternoon. Creek would set his teammates up with 4 assists, and would tally 6 rebounds and a block on defense.
For a fourth-straight contest, sophomore Donevan Rotmans (Rochester, N.Y./ Gates-Chili) would pull down 10 or more rebounds, with 10 against the Saints. Rotmans would add a block and steal apeice to his tally on defense, to go along with 4 points and 2 assists on offense. Freshman Spencer Reese (Farmington, N.Y.) would fall short of a double-double for a second game, dropping 9 points and 7 rebounds. Reese would dish out 3 assists and pick up a block and steal on defense.
The Lakers will hit the Putt Moore Court tomorrow at 12 PM for a NJCAA Region III matchup with the Clinton Community College Cougars.
