Men's Basketball Drops Home Opener to Corning

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's basketball team fought to the end in an 82-77 loss against the Red Barons of Corning Community College. 
 
The Lakers received contributions from starters Jace Brown (Red Creek, N.Y./Red Creek)Kellen Foster (Newark, N.Y./Newark) and Joe Caito (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) all throughout the game. James Reaves Jr. (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) was the star of the show, though, as the sophomore notched a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Reaves Jr. would also add 4 assists and 3 steals to his tally, showing off his versatility. Bruce Wilder Jr. (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) had a strong outing off the bench, pouring in 12 points on an efficient 3-5 shooting to lead the reserves in scoring.
 
The Lakers went into halftime with a 1 point lead, but would have a hard time adapting to the Red Barons' defensive pressure in the second half.
 
The Lakers will look to bounce back in their next matchup, which will be an away game versus the Spartans of Cayuga Community College at 7PM on Wednesday, November 13th.
