Lakers Fall Short in Nail-Biter Against Cayuga, 69-67
AUBURN, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's basketball team narrowly missed securing a win, falling 69-67 in a hard-fought game against Cayuga.
Bruce Wilder Jr. (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) led the Lakers with an impressive 23 points, shooting 8-12 from the field and adding 10 rebounds for a double-double. James Reaves Jr. (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) also posted a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, along with three assists, providing a solid presence in the paint. Jace Brown (Red Creek, N.Y./Red Creek) contributed 14 points and nine rebounds, nearly reaching a double-double himself, while Kellen Foster (Newark, N.Y./Newark) added five points with a three-pointer.
The Lakers shot a strong 65% from the field and outrebounded Cayuga with a total of 52 boards. However, missed opportunities at the free-throw line (16-30) and 20 turnovers proved costly. The Lakers will regroup for their next game at home this Sunday, September 17th against the defending NJCAA D III National Runner-Up Herkimer County Generals at 2 PM.
