CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's basketball team faced a challenging matchup against Herkimer, falling 81-60. Despite strong individual performances, the Lakers struggled to find consistency on offense, shooting just 34.3% from the field.
Sophomore Jace Brown (Red Creek, N.Y./Red Creek) led the Lakers with an efficient 9-16 shooting, going 5-5 from the free-throw line. Bruce Wilder Jr. (Rochester, N.Y./Fairport) also had a strong outing, scoring 21 points and adding four rebounds and two assists. Kellen Foster (Newark, N.Y./Newark) was active on the boards, grabbing 11 rebounds and contributing 3 points.
The Lakers' struggles came from beyond the arc. Although they were solid at the free-throw line, hitting 83.3% of their attempts, Herkimer's defense, which led them to the NJCAA DIII National Championship game just a year ago proved to be the difference.
The team will look ahead to a conference matchup with Onondaga Community College on the road this Wednesday, November 21st at 7 PM/
