CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's basketball team faced a challenging weekend, falling to SUNY Adirondack 96-56 and Hudson Valley 100-71. Despite moments of strong individual performances, the Lakers struggled to contain their opponents' high-powered offenses.
Against Adirondack, Bruce Wilder Jr. (Rochester, N.Y./Fairport) led the Lakers with 21 points, going 14-20 from the free-throw line and adding 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Jace Brown (Red Creek, N.Y./Red Creek) added 11 points and 5 rebounds, continuing his consistent presence in the paint. Despite the Lakers' effort, the team shot 25.8% from the field and 9.1% from beyond the arc, struggling to keep pace with Adirondack's efficiency.
The Lakers managed 26 total rebounds and forced 4 steals, but turnovers (20) and Adirondack's fast pace allowed the opposition to pull away early.
The Lakers improved offensively against Hudson Valley, shooting 42.6% from the field and 42.1% from three-point range, but they couldn't overcome their opponents' balanced attack. Jace Brown delivered an impressive double-double with 21 points and a game-high 16 rebounds.
Bruce Wilder Jr. added 16 points and 3 assists, while Kellen Foster (Newark, N.Y./Newark) chipped in 12 points, hitting 2 three-pointers and contributing on both ends of the court.
The Lakers will look to regroup and build on their offensive improvements as they prepare for their next Region III contest, aiming to turn individual performances into team success.
