Lakers Hold Off Late Rally to Defeat Clinton

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's basketball team secured a hard-fought 82-71 victory over Clinton Community College, improving their season record to 5-10. Led by standout performances from Anthony Torres (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) and Jace Brown (Red Creek, N.Y./Red Creek), the Lakers controlled the game with efficient shooting and dominance on the boards.

Anthony Torres continued his stellar season with a game-high 25 points, adding 8 rebounds and 3 assists while shooting 10-21 from the field. Jace Brown delivered a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, shooting an impressive 8-11 from the floor and a perfect 3-3 from the free-throw line.

Bruce Wilder Jr. (Rochester, N.Y./Fairport) contributed 11 points and 7 rebounds, providing key scoring inside, while Kellen Foster (Newark, N.Y./Newark) added 10 points and 4 rebounds. Brian Whitley (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) chipped in with 7 points and showcased his efficiency, going 3-3 from the field.

The Lakers shot 50% from the field, controlling the tempo and limiting mistakes with only 14 turnovers. Their dominance on the glass was evident, as they out-rebound Clinton 42-32, including 10 offensive boards that created second-chance opportunities.

The Lakers will look to build on this momentum as they continue their season. They aim to climb the Region III standings in their next game, which is against SUNY Jefferson on Tuesday, December 21st, at 7 PM.
