CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's basketball team faced a challenging three-game stretch, narrowly missing a victory against Corning, securing a solid win over Nazareth JV, and falling in a hard-fought contest against SUNY Jefferson.
Against Corning, the Lakers put up a strong offensive performance but came up short in an 89-86 loss. Bruce Wilder Jr. (Rochester, N.Y./Fairport) led the way with 20 points and 9 rebounds, while Anthony Torres (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) added 18 points and 6 boards. Kellen Foster (Newark, N.Y./Newark) chipped in 16 points with 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
The Lakers bounced back with a dominant 70-56 victory over Nazareth JV, powered by a well-rounded effort. Jace Brown (Red Creek, N.Y./Red Creek) controlled the paint with 20 points and 9 rebounds, while Joe Caito (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Brian Whitley (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) contributed 11 points and 8 rebounds in the win.
In a high-intensity matchup against SUNY Jefferson, FLCC battled to the final possession but fell just short, 82-81. Torres put on a show with 31 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists, while Foster added 19 points, knocking down 5 three-pointers. Brown recorded a double-double with 14 points and 8 rebounds.
