Lakers Prevail in Overtime Thriller Against Onondaga

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes men's basketball team came out on top in a back-and-forth overtime battle against Onondaga Community College on Tuesday night, securing a key regional win down the stretch.

Bruce Wilder Jr. (Rochester, N.Y./Fairport) led the charge with a team-high 25 points on 10-for-20 shooting, while Jace Brown (Red Creek, N.Y./Red Creek) recorded a dominant double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Brian Whitley (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) was a force inside, contributing 15 points, 8 rebounds, and a game-high 8 blocks. Anthony Torres (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) filled the stat sheet with 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, and Kellen Foster (Newark, N.Y./Newark) added 10 points and 7 rebounds. Off the bench, Joe Caito (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) provided a spark, going 6-for-7 from the field for 14 points.

With the game tied at 87 in regulation, Bruce Wilder Jr. opened overtime with a layup, setting the tone for the Lakers in extra time. Onondaga briefly reclaimed the lead with a three-pointer, but Jace Brown and Bruce Wilder Jr. answered with key buckets to put the Lakers ahead. A clutch three from Kellen Foster with under a minute left extended the Lakers' advantage to four, and Foster sealed the win at the free-throw line, knocking down 4 consecutive shots in the final seconds.

With the victory, Finger Lakes improved its record to 10-16 (5-9) and will look to earn a win in their regular season finale tomorrow, February 18th at 7 PM against Jamestown Community College.
