Lakers Fall to Monroe in Attack Cancer Game

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - Finger Lakes Community College men's lacrosse fell to 0-4 on the season after suffering an 18-4 loss to the visiting Monroe Community College Tribunes. The two teams joined forces for the game to raise money to Attack Cancer; joining a long list of teams in the series.

For the Lakers, freshman Gavin Pentland (Palmyra, N.Y./ Palmyra-Macedon) was named the Lakers team MVP for a valiant effort from the defensive position. Pentland was recognized for his hustle and percerverences throughout the contest.

Several Lakers had standout performances including William Croft (Newark, N.Y./ Newark) and Matthew McKay (Rochester, N.Y./ Irondequoit). Croft would net a goal for the Lakers while McKay would finish with a team-high 2 goals and 2 assists. Sophomore AJ Golden (Walworth, N.Y./ Gananda) netted his 2nd goal of the season; bringing his season point total to 6. 

Defensively the Lakers were led by Gavin Pentland and Caleb George-Cady (Newark, N.Y./ Newark) who put up a strong effort from the goalie position, recording an impressive 21 saves against Monroe's 39 shots on goal.

The Lakers are home for their next game on Wednesday, April 5th when they host the Panthers of Tompkins Cortland Community College for a 6 PM start on the FLCC multi-use turf facility.
