Panthers End Lakers Streak

CANANDAIGUA -- The Finger Lakes Men's Soccer team lost on Saturday to nationally ranked Tompkins Cortland Community College 3-2 in a back and forth affair. The Lakers are now 4-9-3 on the season and 3-4 in Region III West play.

The Panthers got on the scoreboard early in the game, scoring in the 16th minute. Finger Lakes would draw even quickly however. They scored within the next minute of play. It was the hot foot of James Ferro who found the back of the net. It was the freshman's fourth goal in the past three games. The tied game would remain through halftime.

Finger Lakes would come out of the halftime break. Sean Anderson got the ball on right side of the box. He would slot the ball under the keepers arm and Corey Nash was there to put the ball away for the 2-1 lead. This lead would be short lived as well though as Tompkins Cortland would draw the game level a minute and nineteen seconds later. In the 68th minute, the Panthers would score for the eventual 3-2 win. Brian Arcara saw most of the time in net for the Lakers and recorded 11 saves in the losing effort.

The Laker's final home match will be next Wednesday, October 16th against Genesee Community College. Kickoff with the Cougars is scheduled for 4pm.
