The FLCC men's soccer team dropped their season opener, 3-2, against NJCAA Region III opponent Broome CC on Wednesday, August 24.
The Lakers got on the board first in the fifth minute of play. Freshman forward Brandon Valentin scored from inside the box after a great bouncing feed from Tannor Peirce. The hornets took a one goal lead over the Lakers after scoring two goals within the final five minutes of the half. The Lakers rallied early in the second half when Tannor Peirce scored off a hard, accurate shot to the post. Broome pulled ahead again in the in the 70th minute after being awarded a free kick by the Lakers defense. Freshman goaltender Easton Moore played all 90 minutes in goal for the Lakers, recording seven saves on the day.
The Lakers will travel to Hudson Valley Community College to face the Vikings on Wednesday, August 31. Kickoff is set for 5pm.
