Lakers Fall To SUNY Broome Hornets

CANANDAIGUA N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Men’s Soccer team fell to SUNY Broome Community College 4-1 this afternoon.

The SUNY Broome Hornets came out too strong for the FLCC Laker’s home opener today. The first half was a tough one ending in no score. Both teams played strong and showed each other the kind of effort needed to come out ahead. In the first few minutes of the second half, FLCC first year, Derek McArthur saw his opportunity when Hornet’s goal keeper, Luke Duncan, couldn’t hold onto the ball after a save. McArthur got to the ball quick and showed it the back of the net, ending the scoreless previous 45 minutes. This was McArthur’s first career goal at FLCC. The Lakers held their lead for a little under 10 minutes until Hornet’s Ismar Turkovic scored their first goal. The Lakers fought to try to get back on the board but were stopped by Pedro Marcano who scored the Hornet’s second goal. That was then followed by another Hornet goal a minute later scored by Noah Kozecke. The Lakers started losing steam which led to the Hornet’s last goal from Turkovic with 6 minutes left in the game.

The Laker’s game leaders were McArthur with one goal, and goal keeper Brayden Kane with 18 saves.

The Lakers look for redemption against Harford Community College on Saturday, August 26, at Rochester, N.Y.
