Lakers Freshman Breaks Longstanding Record

Lakers Freshman Breaks Longstanding Record

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Men's Soccer

The Lakers and Raiders had a scoreless first half, in a defensive battle that saw both sides get several scoring opportunities. Lakers Freshman Hunter Zangerle (Keshequa, N.Y./ Keshequa) made a sliding save late in the half to prevent a Raider goal. The two teams went into the break tied, 0-0.

The Raiders eventually broke the scoring drought, notching a goal in the 45' to go up 1-0 early in the second half off the foot of Rasheed Willis. However, the Lakers relentless pressure kept them in the game. After a penalty in the box, the Lakers were awarded a penalty kick. Lakers Freshman Chuck Domm (East Rochester, N.Y./ East Rochester) faked the goalie, punching the goal into the bottom left of the net to tie the game.

Four minutes later, Chuck Domm did it again, punching in his second goal from a pass from teammate Kayden Servais (Holley, N.Y./ Holley) for the eventual game winner. With the goal, the Freshman Forward breaks a longstanding Finger Lakes Community College Men's Soccer record for goals in a season with 26. Domm breaks the record originally held by FLCC Athletics Hall of Famer Eric Marsh, who scored 25 goals in his Sophomore season in 1997.

In the thrilling victory, Freshman goalie Mike Rasciatore (East Rochester, N.Y./ East Rochester) made several diving saves, accumulating 6 saves on the night in 90' in the net. The Lakers win propels the team to 10-5 as they head into their final game of the regular season. The Lakers travel to SUNY Broome Community college Wednesday, Oct. 20th for a 4 P.M. conference matchup.
