SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's soccer team kicked off their 2023 campaign on the road at Onondaga Community College for a Mid-State Athletic Conference matchup.
Lakers freshman Daniel Medina (Mexico City, Mexico/ Tec Monterrey Santa Fe) scored the Lakers' lone goal in a 4-1 defeat off an assist from fellow classmate Joao Antonio Rocha (Sergipe, Brazil/ Colegio Master).
As a team, the Lakers had 11 shots and 8 shots on goal. Freshman goalie Ignacio Jimenez (Bogota, Colombia/ San Bartolome la Merced) earned the start in goal, making 7 saves in his Lakers debut.
Despite falling to the Lazers, the Lakers' expectations for this season remain high as they set their sights on a matchup with Elmira College tomorrow, Sunday, August 27th at 1 PM. From there, the Lakers will return home to Canandaigua, N.Y. for their home opener on August 30th at 3:30 PM against the Jamestown Community College Jayhawks.
