Men's Soccer Battles With #2 Genesee

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's soccer team hosted the nationally ranked #2 Genesee Community College Cougars at the FLCC Multi-use Turf Facility Saturday afternoon. 

The Cougars entered the match with an undefeated record of 5-0 while the Lakers held a record of 1-4 entering the match. The Cougars would strike first in the 8' on a solo goal from Genesee's Unai Cruz. In the 14' the Lakers would respond with a goal from Andre Budrich (Saxony, Germany/ Oberland-Gymnasium Seifhennersdorf) who converted on a header from freshman teammate Vojtech Bartosek (Prague, Czech Republic/ Anglicko-Ceske Gymnazium Amazon). 

The teams would head into the break tied one apiece thanks to several key saves from freshman goalkeeper Ignacio Jimenez (Bogota, Colombia/ San Bartolome la Merced) who finished with 9 saves. 

The Cougars would strike in the second half with two goals to put it away despite the impressive effort from the Lakers. The team is back at home Wednesday, September 20th for a non-region match with the visiting Bryant & Stratton – Rochester Bobcats.
