Men's Soccer Headed to Regional Semifinals Following 6-2 Victory

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's soccer team earned their bid to the NJCAA Region III Semifinals after their 5-2 win over the Tompkins Cortland Community College Panthers. 

As a team, the Lakers' offense was on fire with 32 shots and 20 shots on goal. Lakers freshman Andre Budrich (Saxony, Germany/Oberland-Gymnasium Seifhennersdorf) stood out as the star player of the match, leading the team with a hat trick. Teammate Vojtech Bartosek (Prague, Czech Republic/Anglicko-Ceske Gymnazium Amazon) who leads the Lakers in assists, had another big day setting up his teammates with 3 assists on the day. Teammates Marius Dalidet (Oullins, France/Saint-Thomas D'Aquin-Veritas) and Sergio Baron (Bogota, Colombia/ Liceo Matovelle) got onto the scoresheet with a goal apiece, with Dalidet's goal coming on a penalty kick in the second half.  

The Lakers' defense remained consistent throughout the game with sophomores Gabriel de Souza (Sao Paulo, Brazil/ Colegio e Curso Aprovado) and Riley Green (London, England/Ben Herd Pro Performance Academy) thwarting multiple opportunities for the Panthers. Lakers freshman Ignacio Jimenez (Bogota, Colombia/San Bartolome la Merced) earned the start in goal and made the most of it in the playoff match, making 4 saves in 90' in the net.
