Men's Soccer Drops Two on the Road

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's soccer team dropped back-to-back matchups on the road as the team moved to 4-3-3 this season. On Monday, September 16th the Lakers would drop a close 3-2 match with Nazareth JV before falling to #4 Cayuga Community College Wednesday evening at Falcon Park.

In their matchup with Nazareth, the Lakers battled hard but fell just short. Freshman Carlos Aguiar (Sergipe, Brazil/Colegio Amadeus) and Gary Cooper (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) found the back of the net with assists from Carl Pontin (Sunshine Coast, Australia/Mountain Creek State) and Joao Viana (Sergipe, Brazil/Colegio Master).

In their second match this week, the Lakers faced their toughest challenge yet in a matchup with the #4 Cayuga Community College Spartans. Cayuga would come out strong, setting the tone with a goal in the 2' before carrying a 2-0 advantage into the break. Cayuga would grow their lead to as much as 4-0 before Lakers sophomore Joao Antonio Rocha (Sergipe, Brazil/Colegio Master) broke open the scoring. However, Cayuga would net the final goal as the Lakers fell 5-1 to the Spartans.

The Lakers are back home for their next match this Sunday, September 22nd at the FLCC Multi-use Turf against the SUNY Niagara Thunderwolves.
