Men's Volleyball Wins in Comeback Fashion Over Division III Wells
AURORA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's volleyball team secured their 7th-straight victory with a comeback win over NCAA Division III Wells College. The Lakers would fall behind, 2-0, to start the match, but would put together a dominant run to secure the big win.
Sophomore Nick Ferris (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) led the charge, delivering a dominant performance with 20 kills on a .500 hitting percentage. Ferris' 20 kills tied a season-high for the outside hitter. Joining Ferris in the attack was freshman Aaron Hennessy (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) who amassed 9 kills with a team-high .692 hitting percentage. Hennessy would finish the day with 10 points, adding 2 block assists to his total.
Sophomore Ian Meeks (Victor, N.Y./Victor) was a key contributor to the win, adding 10 kills and a service ace to his total to wrap up an 11-point effort. Orchestrating the team's offense was sophomore Bryce Ceravolo (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) who dished out 49 assists in the match to go along with 4 aces and a solo block.
Teammates Evan Lukasiewciz (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) and Samuel Guardado (San Salvador, El Salvador/Josue Christian) rounded out the day, with Lukasiewicz adding 7 kills and a combined 8.5 points. Guardado made his mark, adding 2 kills and a service ace.
The Lakers are back home tomorrow Sunday, March 3rd for a tri-match against Nassau Community College and Clarkson University Club. The Lakers will look to extend their home win streak to 9 with a sweep on the day.
