Men's Volleyball Wins 10th Straight to Improve to 22-3

HOUGHTON, N.Y. - Finger Lakes Community College men's volleyball has won 10 straight games following a 3-0 sweep over NCAA Division III Houghton University Thursday night. The Lakers, who are 22-3, have dominated during their winning streak, dropping just 4 sets in 10 matches.

Freshman Evan Lukasiewicz (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) was the standout performer of the match, delivering an impressive 18 kills over 3 sets on a .778 hitting percentage. Lukasiewicz's impressive offensive performance was complemented by a service ace and a block assist to round out an impressive day, finishing with 19.5 points. The freshman standout has slowly emerged as one of the Lakers' top offensive threats, accumulating 154 kills this season.

Sophomore Nick Ferris (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) who leads the Lakers in kills, finished with 10 kills with a .600 hitting percentage, adding 10 points to the Lakers total. His offensive firepower and efficiency this season have stood out as he leads the NJCAA in kills and is 2nd in hitting percentage with a mark of .462. Classmate Bryce Ceravolo (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) has been nothing short of impressive this season as the team's primary setter, adding 38 assists to his tally in the match. Ceravalo would cap off his performance with 2 kills a .667 hitting percentage and 4 aces to finish with 6 points.

Freshman Bryce Nickson (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) has emerged as one of the Lakers' top defensive players, but in their match against the Highlanders, Nickson demonstrated exceptional serving, adding 9 aces to his tally. Nickson would go on to contribute 5 digs to round out a performance that was a key factor in the Lakers' dominant win. Defensively, Ian Meeks (Victor, N.Y./Victor) contributed a solo block, and Devin Cline (Belmont, N.Y./Genesee Valley) and Samuel Guardado (San Salvador, El Salvador/Josue Christian) posted impressive hitting percentages of .750 and .800, respectively to round out an impressive evening on the road.

The Lakers are back at home this Sunday, March 10th at 12 PM against the visiting Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton - Wisconsin. The match will mark the second clash between the two programs, with the Lakers prevailing in their first meeting, 3-2.
