GLEN ELLYN, IL. – The Finger Lakes Community College men's volleyball team continued their strong start to the 2025 season at the College of DuPage Invitational, earning a 3-1 victory over Concordia University before falling in a five-set battle against St. Xavier.
Against Concordia, the Lakers found offensive balance, led by Evan Lukasiewicz (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder), who recorded 16 kills and 6 digs. Aaron Hennessy (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) was highly efficient with 8 kills on a .538 hitting percentage, while Bryce Nickson (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) contributed 6 kills and 10 digs. Cole Thomas (Fayettville, N.Y./Chittenango) controlled the offense with 36 assists and added 3 service aces, while Jack Donovan (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) provided a spark with 8 kills and 2 blocks.
In the second match, the Lakers pushed St. Xavier to the brink but came up just short in 5 sets. Evan Lukasiewicz once again paced the attack with 16 kills, while Bryce Nickson added 11 kills and a team-high 12 digs. Jake Seklar (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) had a standout performance with 8 kills and 9 total points. Cole Thomas continued to set the tone with 39 assists, while Braden Whitcomb (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) was a key contributor off the bench, delivering 5 kills on just six attempts for an impressive .833 hitting percentage.
FLCC will return to action as they continue their Midwest swing tomorrow with a pair of big matches against the host College of DuPage, followed by Monroe University (New Rochelle).
