Lakers Sweep NCAA DIII Houghton, Improve to 11-7

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College men's volleyball team delivered a commanding performance on the road, sweeping NCAA Division III Houghton University in straight sets. The victory pushes the Lakers to 11-7 on the season as they continue their strong run heading into the NJCAA National Invitational Tournament.

Evan Lukasiewicz (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) led the attack with 10 kills and 4 block assists, while Jack Donovan (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) contributed 6 kills and 2 aces. Dominick Alvarado (York, PA./Northeastern) was highly efficient at the net, finishing with 5 kills on a .556 hitting percentage along with 5 block assists. Bryce Nickson (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) added 3 kills, 4 digs, and a service ace, while setter Cole Thomas (Fayetteville, N.Y./Chittenango) commanded the offense with 23 assists, an ace, and 2 block assists.

Defensively, the Lakers controlled the match at the net, recording 18 total block assists to stifle Houghton's attack. Grant Walker (Boston, N.Y./Eden) and Bryce Nickson anchored the back row with a combined 7 digs, while the Lakers' aggressive serving resulted in 8 aces throughout the match.

Finger Lakes will look to carry this momentum forward as they continue their push toward the NJCAA Men's Volleyball National Invitational in April.
