
Men's X/C Athlete Earns Top 5 Finish
DRYDEN, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Men's Cross Country team capped of the Mid-State Athletic Conference Championship with a 2nd place team finish on the morning. Broome County Community College came out on top as a team, earing 8 of the top 10 finishes.
Lakers Sophomore Giovanni Ventura (Geneva, N.Y./ Geneva) earned the top finish for the Lakers, finishing 5th, with a time of 18 minutes and 38.6 seconds. Lakers Freshman John Zimmerman (Middlesex, N.Y./ Marcus Whitman) had the second-best time, finishing 10th and completing the 5k course in 19 minutes and 24.7 seconds.
The Lakers had finishes from Freshman Kyle Green earning 12th place and completing the course in 19 minutes and 40.2 seconds, Jacob DiGiovanni (Waterloo, N.Y./ Waterloo) with a finish in 20 minutes and 57.5 seconds, Jake Williams (Lima, N.Y./ Honeoye Falls-Lima) finishing in 21 minutes and 49.6 seconds and Garett Lagenor rounding out the Lakers day with a finish in 21 minutes and 58 seconds.
The Lakers round out a successful run at the Mid-State Athletic Conference Championship as they look ahead to their next meet. The Lakers play host to the Region III Championship on October 30th, looking to make a mark on their home turf.
