
Lady Lakers Drop Road Doubleheader to Lady Golden Eagles
BROCKPORT, NY. – The Finger Lakes CC softball team dropped both games of an afternoon road doubleheader with the Brockport JV Lady Golden Eagles on Thursday by the scores of 7-4 and 8-0 (went five innings). The Lady Lakers entered play yesterday having won five of their previous six games. The losses put Finger Lakes record at 7-14 on the season.
In game one, the Lady Lakers jumped out to an early 1-0 first inning lead after Samantha German crossed the plate. The Lady Golden Eagles would then be retired in consecutive order in the bottom half of the first – but would respond with three runs in the second to take a 3-1 lead. Not to be outdone, Finger Lakes would then strike back in the third as Courtney Edger and German would score back-to-back runs to tie the game at 3.
Brockport would then respond with a run in the fourth to reclaim the lead. After going up 4-3 in the fourth, the Lady Golden Eagles would tack on three runs in the fifth to widen their lead to 7-3. The Lady Lakers would receive a sixth inning Nicole Taylor run before falling 7-4.
In the game one losing effort, Finger Lakes was led offensively by German as she registered a pair of hits out of the three-hole. Contributing one hit apiece were Tamara Robertson, Katie Plummer, Brittany Davis, and Andrea Davis.
In the pitching department, Finger Lakes received five innings out of starter Brittany Davis while Kirsty Selapack launched an inning in relief.
In the nightcap, Brockport jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage in the bottom of the first. The Lady Golden Eagles, after posting the first run of the contest, would go on to add seven more runs before shutting the Lady Lakers out 8-0.
Finger Lakes, in game two, was held to just a pair of hits. Registering the two hits for the Lady Lakers were Robertson and Emily Essom. Kelly Kier got the nod on the mound as she threw all five innings for Finger Lakes.
The Lady Lakers will enjoy an off day today and will return to action tomorrow for a conference road doubleheader with Onondaga CC. First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
