CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College softball team played host to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region III 2021 runner-up in the Red Barons of Corning Community College.
The Red Barons would come away with the doubleheader sweep over the Lakers, suffering 9-1 and 21-0 losses to their Mid-State Athletic Conference opponent.
Game 1
Reagan Seelye (Elmira Heights, N.Y./ Thomas A. Edison) would rip a 1 RBI triple in the bottom of the 4th inning for the Lakers' lone score of the game to bring home teammate Clare Kingsfield (Forestville, N.Y./ Forestville). Seelye would go 1 for 2 in at-bats, while Kingsfield finished 1 for 2 at the plate.
Game 2
Peyton Cory (Mexico, N.Y./ Mexico) would step up to the plate, going 2 for 2, while teammate Hannah DeArmitt (Olean, N.Y./ Olean would go a perfect 1 for 1 in game 2. Sophomore Caitlynne Marczyk (Livonia, N.Y./ Livonia) would finish with 1 hit in the game to round out the day for the Lakers.
The Lakers will look to regroup as they wait for their next game, a home matchup against the Hawks of Mohawk Valley Community College on April 14th in a 4 PM/6 PM doubleheader at FLCC's Turf Facility.
