Women's Basketball Falls to Monroe in Season Opener, 76-46

HENRIETTA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College women's basketball team opened their season with a tough matchup against Division II Monroe Community College, ultimately falling 76-46. Despite strong individual performances and an early lead over the Tribunes, the Lakers would fall in their season opener.

Jazzmyn Lewis led the way for the Lakers, scoring 16 points on 5-12 shooting while adding five rebounds and four assists. Jade Roussell (Dundee, N.Y./Dundee) contributed 11 points and grabbed six rebounds, hitting 4-7 from the free-throw line. Dalayla Alexander (Ellicottville, N.Y./Ellicottville) played a full 40 minutes, tallying seven points, seven rebounds, and five steals to anchor the Lakers' defense.

The Lakers worked hard on both ends, but Monroe's aggressive play led to 28 Lakers turnovers and limited the Lakers to 29.3% shooting from the field.

The Lakers will look to regroup as they return to Canandaigua for their home opener next Wedneday, October 6th at 5 PM. The game will be available on Spectrum cable channel 1304 and Finger Lakes TV (FLTV): fingerlakestv.org/live, along with the cablecast app for Apple or Android.
