Women's Basketball Splits Weekend Road Trip

TROY, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College women's basketball team faced a tough challenge against Hudson Valley, falling 72-38, as they wrap up a weekend road trip. Despite strong rebounding and defensive efforts, the Lakers couldn't find their rhythm offensively, shooting just 22.6% from the field.

Dalayla Alexander (Ellicottville, N.Y./Ellicottville) and Kierra Shaughnessy (Canastota, N.Y./Canastota) led the Lakers with 10 points each, with Alexander adding a double-double with 10 rebounds and 6 steals. Shaughnessy contributed 7 rebounds and 2 assists in a strong effort on the boards.

Jazzmyn Lewis (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) filled the stat sheet with 8 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 6 steals, continuing to make an impact on both ends of the court. Jade Roussell (Dundee, N.Y./Dundee) added 6 points and led the team with 9 rebounds.

The Lakers worked hard on the boards, grabbing 37 total rebounds, including 13 offensive, but turnovers (25) and shooting struggles kept them from closing the gap. Looking ahead, the Lakers will continue their stretch of road games next Wednesday, December 11th at 5 PM at Erie Community College.
