Logging Sports Team Dominates with Multiple First-Place Finishes

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) logging sports team brought impressive energy with three teams in the mix—two Jack and Jill squads and one open team primarily made up of newcomers at SUNY ESF this past weekend.

In the Jack and Jill division, FLCC set a high standard from the start. Jack and Jill Team 1, led by the duo of Asher McKnatt and Jordis Wojcikowski, captured first place in the Splitting event. Their momentum continued in the Team Bow Saw competition, where McKnatt and Wojcikowski joined forces with Morgan Cheney, Grace Davis, David Jankowski, and James Tokasz to clinch another first-place finish with precise and efficient teamwork.

Not to be outdone, Jack and Jill Team 2 also rose to the occasion, showcasing strength in the Doubles X-Cut event. Jon Nicholson and Grace Christiaansen delivered a winning performance to earn the top spot. The team's skill was further highlighted by Paul Pereira, who dominated the Singles Super Swede event to earn first place. The full team came together in the Team X-Cut, with Nicholson, Christiaansen, Mackenzie Ferris, Naomi Weed, Luke Green, and Pereira cutting their way to victory.

In the open division, the Lakers brought together a mix of new talent, with five men and one woman representing FLCC. Logan Merriot, joined by newcomer Teaghan Aroneseno, earned first place in the Doubles Splitting event—a strong showing for Aroneseno who just joined the team a week prior.

The Lakers left the meet with a series of first-place finishes, setting a confident tone as they head into the end of their fall season.
