Women's Soccer Opens Season With Tough Test

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College women's soccer team kicked off their season on the road against the Mighty Oaks of SUNY ESF. Aware of the challenge posed by an opponent with a strong USCAA history, the Lakers faced a tough battle and fell in their opener, 7-0.

Sophomore keeper Hannah Cowan (Austin, TX./Dripping Springs) was the standout in the match, making 13 saves in her debut this season in goal. Sophomore teammates Lauren Bluett (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) and Laura Lopez (Bogota, Colombia/Colombia Co.) each had shots in the game, 2 and 1, respectively.

The Lakers will look to get back on track in a Region III matchup in their home opener next Wednesday, September 4th at 5 PM against Onondaga Community College.
