
Track & Field Delivers Strong Marks at SUNY Geneseo
GENESEO, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College track and field team continued its impressive run of performances at the SUNY Geneseo Invitational, turning in a slate of personal bests, school records, and multiple regional and national qualifying marks.
Jason Hunt-McLean punched his ticket to regionals in the discus and javelin, throwing 30.97m and 37.81m, respectively. Terreque Davis cleared 1.84m in the high jump to qualify for both the NJCAA national meet and regional competition.
In the sprints, Charles Sherman recorded a season-best in the long jump at 5.60m and ran 12.63 in the 100-meter dash. Timothy Trost ran 12.84 in the 100-meter and hit a personal best of 26.82 in the 200-meter. Dylan Peck ran a personal best of 25.60 in the 200-meter dash after a 12.57 effort in the 100-meter. Edwin Del Angel hit personal bests in both events, clocking 13.24 in the 100-meter and 27.92 in the 200-meter.
In the mid-distance races, Griffin Miller posted a time of 2:32.44 in the 800-meter and set a personal best in the 1500-meter at 5:23.83. Edarious Trimble followed with a 2:24.74 in the 800-meter and a personal best of 5:06.44 in the 1500-meter. The team of Charles Sherman, Timothy Trost, Edwin Del Angel, and Dylan Peck ran 50.58 in the 4x100-meter relay.
On the women's side, Grace Holmes made history by clearing 2.60m in the pole vault, setting a new FLCC school record while also hitting both the regional and national qualifying standards. Madisyn Everdyke turned in a standout day in the hurdles, running 17.12 in the 100-meter hurdles and 1:16.33 in the 400-meter hurdles. Both marks meet the regional and national standards, pending wind gauge readings for the 100-meter hurdles.
Alana Bedell ran personal bests in both the 1500-meter (7:10.82) and 800-meter (3:34.72), while Kayla Dunstan continued her distance work with a 3:09.65 in the 800-meter and a 24:21.38 in the 5000-meter run. Jadah McCarthy impressed in the sprints, running 13.50 in the 100-meter and 28.40 in the 200-meter. Both marks would qualify her for regional and national competition pending wind gauge verification.
The Lakers will look to carry this momentum into their next meet at SUNY Brockport on April 12th.
