Women's Volleyball Sweep Cayuga CC in Home Opener
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — The Finger Lakes Community College women's volleyball team rebounded from its first loss of the year to sweep Cayuga Community College Thursday night and improve to 3-1 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.
The Lakers won by scores of 25-10, 25-9 and 25-18 in their home opener. Freshman Jenna Wallace (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / Baldwinsville) recorded 9 digs with 7 aces and 1 kill, while freshman Oona O'Brien (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) contributed with 5 kills, 4 aces and 2 digs in two sets.
Freshman Emma Sipos (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) added 8 digs, 4 kills and 1 ace, while sophomore Brandy Morrison (Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) chipped in with 5 kills, 3 aces, and 2 digs for the Lakers.
Freshman Caitlynne Marczyk (Hemlock, N.Y. / Livonia) totaled 5 aces and 2 digs, classmate Kayla Fetcie (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) added 3 digs, 3 aces, and 2 kills, and freshman Meghan Johnson (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) posted 3 digs, 3 kills and 3 aces in two sets for the Lakers.
FLCC travels to Niagara County Community College on Sept. 11th at 11 A.M.
