Women's Volleyball Records Another Sweep

CANANDAIGUA — For the fourth time during the 2021 season, the Finger Lakes Community College women's volleyball team swept its opponent, this time dispatching of Tompkins Cortland Community College in three sets Saturday at FLCC.

FLCC (5-1) defeated TC3 by scores of 25-11, 25-13, and 25-21 to win its third straight match.

The Lakers got off to a fast start and hit an impressive .409 in the opening set, logging 13 kills with only four errors in 22 total attacks. FLCC continued its solid hitting display in the second set, compiling 10 kills with five errors in 19 total attacks for a .263 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Brandy Morrison (Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) led the way with a .461 hitting percentage, recording eight kills with two errors on 13 attacks), while freshman Emma Sipos (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) hit .353 after compiling 10 kills with four errors on 17 attacks. Eight different student-athletes had at least one kill in the win.

Freshman Alyssa Johnson (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) added 13 assists with three digs, classmate Jenna Wallace (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville) had 11 assists with five aces, freshman Emer O'Brien (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) chipped in with seven digs, and classmate Oona O'Brien (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) added five digs and two kills in the win.

The Lakers travel to play Mohawk Valley Community College at 1 p.m. on Sept. 25.
