Women's Volleyball Extends Winning Streak to Six

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Lakers women's volleyball has continued to roll in tune to a 6-game winning streak fueled by consistent play from starters to reserves. The Lakers saw just that Wednesday night when the Cayuga Community College Spartans came to town. The Lakers would sweep the Spartans, 3-0, taking set one, 25-15, set 2, 25-8, and set 3, 25-14.

Freshman Megan Sanford (Savona, N.Y./ Campbell-Savona) and Kaidyn VanDelinder (Gananda, N.Y./ Gananda) would combine for 13 points on the night. Sanford would add 7 kills and 2 digs, while VanDelinder tallied 6 kills and 1 dig in the contest.

Freshman Brooke DeGroff (Castile, N.Y./ Letchworth) would add in 8 points off from 8 kills and 7 digs. Sophomore Meghan Johnson (Phelps, N.Y./ Newark) would contribute 5 kills, 1 ace, and 10 digs, while teammate Kayla Fetcie (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) would add 3 kills, 3 digs, and 1 block solo to her tally.

Freshman setter Adrianna Botello (Holley, N.Y./ Holley) put together one of her strongest performances of the season with 8 assists, 4 aces, and 4 digs. Freshman libero Olivia Sheehan (Irondequoit, N.Y./ Irondequoit) would impress in the matchup, adding in 4 aces and 18 digs.

Sage Barnedo (Silver Springs, M.D./ Springbrook) would play all three sets, adding 1 kill, 17 assists, 5 aces, and 8 digs to her tally in a strong showing. Teammate Kierstin Comerford (Geneva, N.Y./ Geneva) saw time in three sets played, adding 1 ace and 5 digs on the night.

The Lakers have continued to improve as the season progresses, winning eight of their last 9 games. The Lakers will take their momentum and winning streak on the road this Saturday, September 17th where the team will take on Onondaga CC, Cayuga CC, and Jefferson CC for the Jefferson Community College POD.
