Lakers Sweep Series With Tribunes

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - After defeating the Tribunes earlier in the season in a 3-0 sweep at the Jefferson Invitational, the Lakers would put the stamp on the series Tuesday night, completing yet another sweep over the Tribunes, 3-0 on the Putt Moore Court. On Lakers Supporting Lakers night for the women's volleyball team, The Lakers were able to improve to 15-7 on the season.

Freshman Brooke DeGroff (Castile, N.Y./ Letchworth) continually attacked the Tribunes' defense, accumulating 10 kills to go along with 1 ace, and 4 digs. Teammate Kaidyn VanDelinder (Gananda, N.Y./ Gananda) continued her strong defensive efforts, tallying 2 blocks, along with 6 kills and 1 dig.

Freshman Megan Sanford (Savona, N.Y./ Campbell-Savona) and Sophomore Meghan Johnson (Phelps, N.Y./ Newark) helped support the offense with a combined 13 points. Sanford added 8 kills in the match, while Johnson tallied 5 kills, 1 ace, and 11 digs.

Freshman Libero Olivia Sheehan (Rochester, N.Y./ Irondequoit) made several hustle plays for the team, playing three sets and adding 2 assists, 6 aces, and 11 digs in a strong effort. Teammate Sage Barnedo (Silver Springs, M.D./ Springbrook) consistently set her teammates up in the match, adding 27 assists and 1 kill, and 11 digs.

Several other Lakers stepped up in the match, including Adriana Botello (Holley, N.Y./ Holley) with 7 digs, Lily Ayotte (Sodus, N.Y./ Sodus) with 1 kill, Anniels Astacio (Rochester, N.Y./ James Monroe) with 2 digs, Sophomore Kayla Fetcie (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) who finished with 1 kill and 1 dig, and Freshman Kierstin Comerford (Geneva, N.Y./ Geneva) who ended the night with 1 ace.

Next for the Lakers, a trip to the Genesee Community College POD, where the team will find matchups with Mohawk Valley and Herkimer County Community College(s) and look to continue their impressive run this season.
