
Lakers Sweep Tribunes on the Road
HENRIETTA, N.Y. - The #4 ranked Finger Lakes Community College women's volleyball team rolled to their 10th-straight win Thursday night in a 3-0 sweep over the Monroe Community College Tribunes. The Lakers, who moved to 11-2 with the win, have swept the Tribunes in five-straight matchups dating back to 2021.
Freshman Anna Kurtzhalts (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) led the attack with 8 kills and a .316 hitting percentage, while setter Payton Stoddard (Bloomfield, N.Y./Bloomfield) contributed 19 assists and 4 points. Freshman Jackie Neureuter (Pembroke, N.Y./Pembroke) chipped in with 8 kills and 7 digs. Defensively, Michelina Williams (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) anchored the back row with 15 digs, along with 2 service aces. Classmate Karynn Price (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) also made her presence felt with 5 kills and 2 blocks, as the Lakers shut down the Tribunes offense.
Mary Pierce (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal), who played in just her second match this season, and Emma Balduf (Bergen, N.Y./Byron-Bergen) contributed valuable minutes, combining for 3 kills and 4 digs. Sophomore Molly Goulette (Newark, N.Y./Newark) would round out the day with a strong service game with 2 aces.
The Lakers will continue their road series this Saturday, September 21st as they travel to Erie Community College for a Region III pod where they will face the Erie Kats and SUNY Niagara Thunderwolves at 10 AM and 12 PM.
