Logging Sports has Strong Showing at ESF

TULLY, N.Y.- The Finger Lakes Community College Logging Sports Team competed in the 15th Annual East Coast Lumberjack Round-Up hosted by SUNY ESF on Saturday. Along with FLCC the participating schools were: Alfred State, Cobleskill, SUNY ESF, Morrisville, Paul Smith's, Ranger School, Unity, University of New Hampshire and The University of Vermont.

 

The Women's Division took 3rd place out of 7 teams with a total of 1120.50 points. This team comprised of 2 returning athletes: Emily Dobbs and Samantha Bower along with newcomers Madeline Lippert, Melinda Waag, Sarah Middlebrook and Hannah Schaubert. The Women placed first in Team Pulp Toss and Team Bow Saw. The women's team had strong showings in Team Packboard and Singles Single Buck (Madeline Lippert).

 

The Men's Division took 7th place out of 14 teams with a total of 847.13 points. This team is comprised of 1 returning athlete: William Chrysler and newcomers Benjamin Nixon, John Bateman, Garrett Kelledy, Kevin Roelle, and Nate Stuckey. The men's team had strong showings in Team Packboard, and Singles Cookie Stack (William Chrysler).

 

The Jack and Jill Division took 5th place out of 9 teams with a total of 797.12 points. This team comprised of 2 returning athletes: Zach Cragle and Morgan Opeil and newcomers: Emily Crooks, Calum Ruxton, Hunter Chrysler and Michaela Johnstone. The Jack and Jill Team placed 1st in Team Bow Saw and had strong showings in Team Packboard, Team Cross Cut and Doubles Firebuild (Hunter Chrysler and Michaela Johnstone).

 

The Lakers will compete at their last competition of the semester on Saturday October 26th at Paul Smith's College. The start time is 8:30am.
