FLCC Women's Team Shines at 50th Anniversary Meet

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College logging sports program hosted its annual spring meet this past Saturday, April 13th. However, the occasion marked the 50th Anniversary of the logging sports program at FLCC, which began at the Community College of the Finger Lakes in 1974. With several alumni in attendance and three alumni teams who competed in the open division, the event capped off another special day at the Lakers competition field.  

In the Men's division, FLCC secured a fourth-place finish, tallying a total score of 868.5 points. Their performance was notably strong in the Axe Throw and Single Buck events, each scoring a perfect 100 points. The team also performed well in the Disc Stack and Barrel Roll events, scoring 67.7 and 75.4 points, respectively. 

The Open Division saw participation from FLCC alumni teams. FLCC Alumni 1 earned a strong second-place finish in the college competition with 1242.8 points, including a perfect Bow Saw score. FLCC Alumni 2 also performed well, placing third with 1232.9 points, bolstered by top scores in the Disc Stack and Super Swede Saw events. 

The FLCC women's team stole the show, clinching first place in the Women's division with a dominant score of 1564.9 points. They continued their strong showing this season, earning perfect scores in the Buck Saw, Fire Build, and Log Roll events. 

The event marked the final home meet of the regular season for the Lakers who travel to SUNY Morrisville next weekend, before wrapping up the year with the Spring Championships at Paul Smiths College on April 27th.
