Five Lakers Earn NJCAA Student-Athlete Awards

Five Finger Lakes Community College Student-Athletes were named as Athletes of Distinction by the National Junior College Athletic Association by earning Academic Student-Athlete Awards. The Five Lakers is an increase from the four named last season.

Chuck Collins leads the list for the Lakers by earning the Superior Academic Achievement Award. Collins posted a 3.9 GPA while being a NJCAA National Champion in the 10,000 meters during the Outdoor Track and Field season. Combining track with cross country, Collins was named All-American three times, All-Region four times, and won three Region III Championships.

Jenn Marshall completed her Finger Lakes career by standing out on the field and in the classroom. She earned the Exemplary Academic Achievement Award with a 3.6 GPA. Marshall leaves the Lakers Softball program with her name in the top three of eight different career offensive records and as the school's all-time leader in doubles, home runs, runs batted in, and has the schools longest hitting streak.

Sean Pebbles and Alex Reynolds also earned Exemplary Academic Achievement from the NJCAA. Both were members of the Men's Track and Field team at FLCC. Pebbles repeated his 2014 performance in the Javelin at the Region III Championships, winning the event in back-to-back years. Reynolds performed well in his first season with the Lakers, competing in the Pole Vault.

Meagan Voss became the first FLCC Volleyball player in school history to be named to earn an NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Award. She posted a 3.6 GPA while majoring in Human Services. Voss ended her Laker career ranked fourth in blocks with 72.
